Why Attend A Mom Heart Conference?

Conference photo

The pudgy fingers of my toddler cling to my shoulder as I to type this, a bit slower than my usual speed as I listen for the cues in her breath that tell me she is still sound asleep. Her other arm is stretched across her brother. Yes, there are two of them that have taken over tonight, finally sleeping soundly after one of those drag out bedtimes. Its not every night that my children collapse in my bed, or need to collapse at all, but these short winter days, the after the holiday blues and the stretching back into a school routine have us feeling rather harried. I’m weary and find myself wondering if you might be just a bit weary today too? A bit of refreshment is in order. A time to remember the longings of our hearts to be bearers of beauty and light and Jesus to our families. If you are a weary mom, a tired mom, a desperate mom, or simply want to be reminded of your high calling, would you consider joining us for one of our four Mom Heart Conferences this year?

My sweet friend September attended her first Mom Heart Conference in Denver last year, where we had a chance to meet for the first time. I’m thrilled to introduce you to her today as a new contributor at Mom Heart! Check out her story and pray about whether God might have you join us this year.

September’s Story

May I share a little story with you?  Perhaps you might find this a tad extreme, or rather, may find yourself nodding your head and heart in understanding.

I am a mom, like you.  We may not lead the same lives, or even share similar circumstances, but I do know we share at least one common denominator as moms: We all have moments, or even days, when we become weary and need encouragement.

I am a mom to ten children, and I have been married for 23 years.  Oh, please don’t stop reading because you think I am a Super-mom, or a veteran pro.  I am you – a mom to one x’s ten.  We do the same things, and we feel the same way.

And here is my little story:  I had never left my children for an out-of –state, over-night get-away, let alone a conference – in over 20 years.  WHAT!?

Some of you may understand this, some of you think I am crazy.

And to add to the story, I had not flown in over 25 years.  You see where I am going with this?

God knew this was the time for me to have a reprieve, and little did I know where He was leading me.   We were not in a position to send me on a plane, across the country from NY to Colorado to a Conference for Mom’s.  To pay for plane fare, and the conference ticket, and accomodations.  But God had a better plan!

He chose my name to win a free ticket from a giveaway by a faithful member of the Mom Heart Team.  He provided the finances for me to travel, and all of the details were falling into place!

The biggest hurdle?  I had to say YES to God!

How could I leave my children?  My baby?   Fly alone for the first time in over 25 years?   Stay in a room alone for a few days in the quiet?

Can I just share that He took all fears, and all anxiety away as soon as I said YES.  And what a blessing it is to obey.

Little did I know that a conference covering all of the daily things that I had been implanting in my home for years, would impact and solidify my heart in knowing that the hard and sometimes weary work is well-worth our investment.

My time at Mom Heart was refreshing, encouraging, and most of all – Inspiring!  We are not alone moms!  Take HEART in knowing that if you listen, obey and attend a Mom Heart Conference in 2013 – Your heart and mind will be changed forever.  If you let it.

A transformation takes place when we embrace training our minds to knowing WHY we are doing what we are waking up to each morning, and learning HOW to see and make this thing called Motherhood happen with beauty and grace.

Learn how to shape your child’s heart, soul and mind.  When I rest in bed each night, I now ask myself this:  How did I shape my child’s Heart today? How did I shape their Minds today?  And  – How did I shape their souls today?

Can I just encourage you to know, that if you’re a “mom like me,” desiring to be a Heart-Shaper for Eternity, you will be blessed by your time at the Mom Heart Conference. Don’t wait until you have “done it alone for twenty years!”  Attend a conference now, and enjoy the quiet, the fun, and the amazing days of learning! (And I must say that the friendships you will walk away with will bless your days to come!)

I would love to hear from you if you are teetering on the edge of decision!  Send me a note, and share your heart –remember, I have been there, and understand YOUR mom heart!

September McCarthy

September has more joy than she ever thought possible in this life. She lives a life of perpetual motion, loving the man that has protected her heart for 23 years, while raising 10 children to be more like their personal Savior. While tending to the hearts of little ones, sharing the joys and hard days with her middle children, and watching her oldest children live out their faith, September rejoices that God alone is her strength through each season. September has a heart for encouraging women in motherhood, and the humility of “being real.” Her journey through loss and tragedy has taught her to be sensitive to the pain in other’s lives. While managing her home, she finds new perspective daily, and has been able to share that with discipleship’s, speaking, and writing. You can read September’s e-book, Hula Hoop Girl, written for women who might try and “do it all.” It is written to the heart of women to encourage them to find their identity in Christ, and to keep their home/family as a sacred place. You will find September writing at One September Day, and also as a contributing writer for MODsquad and Allume. She leads and hosts Mom Heart Small Groups within her home, and loves sharing with mom’s encouragement and hope. Between laundry and life, her heart is to encourage. 1. I have wanted to go to this conference for 2 years, but it’s been too far…I’m on the East Coast. What a surprise to see that there’s a conference in NC this Aegean…right in my neck of the woods! My hubby gave me the ‘A-okay’ to come until we had to replace his jalopy over Christmas! Praying it can still work out! Thank you for sharing your story…very encouraging!
