I knew the monthly post was coming so for the past thirty days I pondered what to talk about for the month of love as a single mom. I certainly did not want to present platitudes about the love of God in my life when I desire to be married and loved by a man. I did not want to share with you our single family tradition of getting each child their favorite box of girl scout cookies, since their arrival coincides with Valentines. But now, the cat is out of the bag. I want a husband and I give my kids cookies. Yet, I cannot end the post here with a hurting heart, because it has repeatedly been ministered to by a loving Heavenly Father. And He has been faithful again.
One of the ways God has repeatedly ministered to my lonely heart has been through deep and meaningful friendships. Susie, my dear friend for over two decades recently lost her brother suddenly. She and her family flew down from New Jersey to Alabama for Bubba’s passing. My family has spent years hanging out at Pat and Bubba’s as Bubba built an apartment over his garage for family when they came to visit.
